Our client was growing their technology solutions offering, which required a different kind of employee experience than the financial firm’s typical office space. The Ignition Denver office was the first of its kind for the company, designed to recruit and inspire young tech-savvy millennials with state-of-the art tools, modular collaboration spaces for work and engaging recreation spaces to inspire unbridled creativity.
Forcade was hired to design a corporate interior unlike any other office at the time, with an environmental graphics and signage package that sparked innovation and collaboration throughout the entire space.
We designed all of the branding graphics in the space as “ignition points,” encouraging and inspiring creative thinking no matter where you are within the office. This included eye-catching inspirational quotes created in neon. Brand mantras made differently and unexpectedly, like printed on the ceiling, made from custom polished pegs and hand-painted on wood veneer. And even unique lighting fixtures made from bicycle frames.
We also used experiential graphic design techniques to create interactive tactile experiences throughout the space. A 60-foot wall of lockers covered with two tones of magnets provided a creative canvas for employees to express themselves, from building giant mountainscapes to making emoji faces to writing congratulatory messages to one another.
To creatively connect to the culture of giving back, we designed a highly engaging community-driven donor wall that allowed employees or clients to choose a featured charity each month. Using a large craft paper roll made the experience fun and tactile while also allowing for easy monthly updating. We further designed depth and creativity into each month-long giving campaign by using vertical clear glass tubes to show the progress as funds were donated.
One of the most dynamic spaces we designed in the office was all about inspiring creativity through encouraging play. The game room featured a one-of-a-kind bottle wall, with 1,800 illuminated green glass bottles that paid homage to Colorado’s popular craft brewing scene. The names of Denver’s most vibrant neighborhoods, like Rino, Highlands and Lodo, were wrapped around exterior columns in the room, as a constant reminder that employees were working in the country’s No. 1 destination for millennials. It was a fun and motivational way to welcome new employees to the vibrancy of Denver.

The engaging environmental graphics and tactile experiences Forcade built into the Ignition Denver office sparked creativity, innovation and collaboration among its young, tech-savvy inhabitants. The success of the design became the inspiration for other Ignition offices located throughout the world.
