Dubai 2020

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Our breath of involvement in an amazing project like this with Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The project was the heart and identity of Expo 2020 Dubai.  Today it functions as the soul of Expo City Dubai. It serves as a collaborative public space where it sparks dialogue, bringing visitors together through a single spatial experience. The central theme of the Expo was “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” representing Dubai’s history through the symbolism of geometry balanced with nature and technology.  The trellis' distinctive geometry is based on a recently discovered 4000-year-old Bronze-Age ring found in the Emirates, linking the history of Dubai with the Expo. Forcade Associates defined and designed consistent use of the Expo fonts, internationally recognized iconography, and purposeful use of color (used sparsely) to work together, establishing the visual language for the signage and wayfinding system.
